Minnetonka City Council Passes Opus’s Crest Ridge Corporate Center
01/29/2008 Last night, the city voted to approve Opus’s development proposal at I-394 & Hopkins Crossroad. We, the neighbors on Archwood Road and Oak Knoll Terrace, had some impact, but didn’t get what we really wanted — a different location for both parking ramps. The project still needs to be reviewed by Bassett Creek Watershed Management on Feb 21. Click here for more on Bassett Creek.
What’s next? The Comprehensive Guide Plan. There is no longer a reason for Special Area #15, since all corners of Hopkins Crossroad and I-394 have been developed, so Special Area #15 must be removed from the Comprehensive Guide Plan. There is a community meeting for I-394 residents on Feb. 20 at the Minnetonka Community Center.

Parking Ramps Next to R-1 Housing
We have feared that allowing parking ramps next to R-1 housing would set a precedent. Now it appears that those fears were founded. We just heard about another proposed project on the north side of I-394 which will put a parking ramp next to R-1 housing. Details to come.
Residents Propose to Purchase City Land to Preserve Water Quality
Residents near the proposed Opus development at I-394 and Co Road 73 have raised $15,000 in pledges to purchase city property containing a holding pond and a wetland. Just 9 years ago the holding pond was created to improve the water quality in Crane Lake. According to water quality testing by the Bassett Creek Water district the water quality has improved in Crane Lake after the holding pond was installed. Storm water managment was also greatly improved.
The City of Minnetonka plans to sell this land to fill in the holding pond to build a parking ramp. We have given the city notice that we want to make a competitive bid for the land. We intend to donate the land to the Basset Creek Water district. If you are interested in pledging to support this effort click here. I am Interested in Helping
Update on Opus Development Proposal: 01/17/2008 — The community meeting took place on Tuesday night, with about 20-25 neighbors, representatives from Opus, city staff, and councilpersons Tony Wagner and James Hiller attending.
A very brief recap: The neighbors still don’t like the proximity of the ramps to R-1 housing and worry about the impact to the neighborhood. The increased traffic is also an issue for residents in the general area. The revised Opus proposal will be considered at the January 28, 2008 City Council meeting.Find more information by clicking on links to the right or by clicking below:

The Purpose of this Web Site. To help the residents of the City of Minnetonka to promote responsible development in the City of Minnetonka in keeping with the spirit of the city’s Comprehensive Guide plan.
Based on the experience of the residents near the Glen Lake project and the Shady Oak Road improvement, many residents of the City of Minnetonka feel there is a disconnect between the published statements and zoning ordinances controlling development and the development projects that are actually approved by the City of Minnetonka.
It is difficult for small groups of residents to share information and organize their efforts to gain a meaningful voice in shaping the future of our community. This web site is designed to help overcome this problem by providing links to relevant information, allowing residents to share comments and to coordinate the effort required to have a meaningful impact on development within the City of Minnetonka.
